What was measured.
In an October 5 test, the music usually went down by less than the setting asked. At the default setting the voice measured worse than before in 39 of 317 test recordings, 38 of them with a made-up chord as the music.

The free try
What the 20 seconds do with music.
Solipsium's free try is built for speech. It has no step that separates music from a voice.
Noise over music.
When held musical tones sit under a steady noise, cleanup stays gentle and lowers the noise by at most 6 dB, and the result says so.
Speech cleanup.
When the try runs speech cleanup for noise or other voices, music can come down with it. The editor's note on it reads: “Targets hiss in speech. Check quiet or distant voices; may remove music and ambience.”

A television's talking is voices behind the speaker: “Other voices seem to sit behind the speaker, so speech cleanup is used.”

About music under a voice.
Can it remove the music completely?
No. Rebalance turns the bed down by an amount, and in the October 5 test the music usually went down by less than the setting asked.
Can it remove the voice and keep the music?
No. Rebalance keeps the voice in front and lowers the rest.
Music in a video?
Drop the video file. With a free account, the editor works on its sound while you watch the picture, and a video export keeps the original picture with the repaired track.
Is it for songs?
Rebalance is built for a voice over a bed of sound. It is not a way to take the singing out of a song, or the song out from under the singing.
Is my recording uploaded?
Not for the check, which runs in your browser. Pressing Repair the first 20 seconds sends those 20 seconds; when your browser could not open the file, or it runs over five minutes, the file itself goes to Solipsium's server, so the try is offered for it only up to 25 MB. Solipsium keeps only the first 20 seconds and deletes them within an hour. If you are signed in, a file you drop or choose is uploaded to your account and opens in the editor instead. The privacy notice has the rest.
