Terms of service, in plain words.
Bring recordings you have permission to use, compare each repair with your original, and keep your own backup. Solipsium is experimental alpha software.
Updated October 23, 2026. Questions: support@solipsium.com.
The service and its operator
Solipsium is offered by H. Hassan in Ontario, Canada, as an unincorporated project. It provides audio repair, editing, delivery measurements and picture enhancement of video. Features and limits may change during the alpha. Creating an account or using the service means accepting these terms. The privacy notice explains data handling; accepting these terms does not replace any separate consent required by law.
Your account
- You must be at least sixteen. If you cannot enter this agreement yourself under the law where you live, a parent or legal guardian must agree and supervise your use.
- Use a passphrase of at least fifteen characters and keep it private. Tell the operator promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
- No email is collected at signup. Account recovery requires contacting the operator and establishing ownership; recovery is not guaranteed.
- You can request account deletion on the account page. Running work must finish or be cancelled first. Deleting the account also cancels any paid plan at Stripe straight away, with no refund for the rest of its month. The privacy notice explains records that remain after deletion.
Recordings and permission
Upload only media you have the rights and permissions to process. Permission to possess a recording does not necessarily include permission to upload it. Obtain consent from recorded people where required, and respect copyright, confidentiality and privacy obligations. Whether you enhance a video in your browser or on Solipsium's servers, you must hold the rights to it and have the consent of the people who appear on screen where the law requires it. Do not use the service for unlawful content, harassment or attempts to bypass its protections.
You retain the rights you already have in your media. You grant the operator only the permission needed to store, process and return it, maintain the service and respond to your support requests, as described in the privacy notice. The application does not train models on uploads, videos included. Processing does not create rights in material you did not have permission to use, and ownership or copyright protection of generated output is not guaranteed.
Limits and fair use
A try on the homepage needs no account and repairs the first 20 seconds of one file, three times a day from one connection; each try is deleted within an hour and never used for anything else. Editor imports are limited to 1 GB or thirty minutes, with a library of up to twenty recordings for ordinary members. Quick restore and individual processing tools may have smaller limits. Server video enhancement, when offered, takes videos of up to 1 GB and ten minutes, at most 1920 pixels on the long side, 720 pixels on the short side and 60 frames per second, and at most 18,000 frames in all (ten minutes at 30 frames a second, or five at 60), in 8-bit standard dynamic range (SDR); 10-bit and high dynamic range videos are refused. The interface and account page show applicable limits. Do not evade quotas through multiple accounts or disrupt other users. The operator may suspend access for misuse or security reasons. Contact the operator about a disputed suspension or access to your information.
Free alpha and future payments
Purchases are unavailable unless the installation explicitly enables checkout. Proposed prices and interest buttons do not create a subscription or charge you. Before any paid order, the checkout must show the offer, currency, total price, applicable taxes, billing interval and cancellation terms. No existing use authorizes a new charge.
These are free now and stay free after payments open: checking a recording, trying the first 20 seconds of one on the homepage, repairing any passage of up to 20 seconds that does not use AudioSR, and enlarging and sharpening a video's picture with the video enhancer in your own browser, with no upload and no watermark. Until payments open, whole-recording repairs are free too. The prices that apply once they do are the ones listed here and shown at checkout, in US dollars: the Repair pack, 25 credits for $5; One recording, 15 credits for $4; the Studio plan, $19 a month for up to 30 whole-recording repairs a day; and the Archive plan, $59 a month for up to 150 a day.
If paid packs are offered, a pack is a one-time credit purchase and credits have no scheduled expiry. If a monthly plan is offered, it renews until cancelled through the account page's Stripe portal and remains usable for the paid period, subject to its stated limits. The displayed terms of your order govern its price; a website edit does not retroactively change a completed purchase.
When credit charging is enabled, a whole-recording Suggested repair, cleanup or Hollywood edit spends one credit, and so does an AudioSR detail passage. Free scans and eligible passage repairs remain free. A credit is returned automatically if its repair fails, is cancelled or is recovered as failed after a restart. This restores a credit, not a cash payment.
Server video enhancement, when offered, runs for members only while credit charging is enabled, and it spends credits on a monthly plan too: 1 credit for each started minute of video, and at least 2 credits for each video, so a video of 2 minutes 10 seconds spends 3 credits. The credits are taken once the video has been measured and accepted, before the work starts, and all of them are returned automatically if the job fails or is cancelled.
Contact the operator about a missing purchase or refund. Refund requests made within fourteen days will be considered when the service was materially different from its description. This additional process does not restrict statutory cancellation, refund or other consumer rights, including any longer period required by law. Keep your payment receipt.
Delivery checks and integrations
A delivery check measures the submitted file and reports its findings. It is not a certification and does not promise acceptance by a client, broadcaster or platform. Review flagged passages yourself. External API access and batch integrations are deferred and are not part of the current public alpha offering.
Experimental results and responsibility
Repairs can introduce artifacts, change a voice or infer sound that was not recorded. Always compare important results with the original. Solipsium does not guarantee intelligibility, accuracy, continuous availability, preservation of files, or fitness for legal, medical or other high-stakes decisions. A repaired file is not proof of what a person originally said. Picture enhancement can change faces, text and fine textures. Enhancement invents detail that was not filmed, and an enhanced video is not evidence of what was recorded. Keep original media independently.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is supplied as available and liability for service-related claims is limited to the amount you paid Solipsium in the preceding twelve months. This provision does not exclude liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer protections or liability for fraud.
Solipsium's own work
The software, the way it diagnoses recordings and chooses and runs repairs, the models the operator trains or tunes, the benchmarks and test sets, and Solipsium's pages and designs belong to the operator, and those that are not published are confidential. Using the service gives you no rights in them beyond using it as these terms allow.
You may not copy, decompile or reverse engineer the service, its website code or its applications, except where the law allows it despite this term. This term does not cover the open-source files the site sends to your browser, such as mediabunny and the WebSR, Anime4K, Real-ESRGAN and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1 material in the video enhancer: each stays under its own licence, and these terms do not limit the rights that licence gives you. You may not reach the service by automated means other than an interface the operator offers for that purpose, or collect its pages or results in bulk. You may not use the service, or what it produces, to build, train or tune a product or model that competes with Solipsium. Your own recordings and the repairs of them remain yours to use, as the section on recordings describes.
Open-source models
Solipsium's repairs run open-source models, each used under the licence its authors published: AudioSR by Haohe Liu and colleagues (code under the MIT licence, the basic checkpoint published by its author under Apache-2.0), used for Quick restore and, in the editors, for Studio and detail passages and the Hollywood edit's optional detail rebuild; AP-BWE (MIT), which rebuilds the treble of phone-quality speech and of recordings saved at 16 kHz; DeepFilterNet3 (MIT or Apache-2.0) and GTCRN (MIT), which clean up speech; and the TorchAudio SQUIM objective model (BSD-2 code, CC BY 4.0 weights), which rates recordings with no measured damage. Room echo reduction uses nara-wpe, open-source signal-processing code by the Communications Engineering Group at Paderborn University (MIT licence). The video enhancer in your browser reads and writes videos with mediabunny by Vanilagy and contributors (Mozilla Public License 2.0; served unmodified, with its source at github.com/Vanilagy/mediabunny), and enlarges the picture with Solipsium's port of WebSR by Sam Bhattacharyya, which runs the Anime4K networks by bloc97 (both under the MIT licence). The video enhancer's Strong, slow setting, and server video enhancement when offered, use Real-ESRGAN's realesr-general-x4v3 model by Xintao Wang and colleagues, which its Keep grain setting blends with the same release's realesr-general-wdn-x4v3 model (code under the BSD-3-Clause licence; its release weights state no licence of their own). Its Sharpen edges setting runs RCAS from AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1 by Advanced Micro Devices (MIT licence). Their licence texts are served at /mediabunny-license.txt, /websr-license.txt, /realesrgan-license.txt and /fidelityfx-license.txt. The benchmark behind the published results uses the VCTK corpus by Yamagishi, Veaux and MacDonald (CC BY 4.0). Their authors do not endorse Solipsium.
The operator relies on these published licences and does not warrant that any model, or the data it was trained on, is free of claims by third parties. A model may be replaced or withdrawn at any time, including when a question about its licence or training data arises. If a paid feature is withdrawn for that reason, credits spent on repairs that could not be completed are returned, and unused paid time is handled under the refund terms above.
If you hold rights in one of these models or in data it was trained on and believe a use here is not permitted, write to support@solipsium.com. The operator will review the notice promptly and may pause the feature while it does.
Name, changes and applicable law
The Solipsium name and branding identify this project. No trademark registration is claimed here. Do not present your work as endorsed by the project without permission.
Ontario and Canadian law govern these terms, subject to mandatory protections available where you live. If one provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions still apply. Material changes will be dated and explained, with notice or renewed agreement where required. Changes do not remove rights relating to earlier purchases.
September 19, 2026: clarified pre-alpha limits, permissions, deletion and consumer rights; deferred external API and batch access.
September 22, 2026: added the homepage try (the first 20 seconds of a file, with no account, deleted within an hour) and stated what is free and what each pack and plan costs.
September 29, 2026: named the open-source models the repairs use and their licences, and said how a model may be withdrawn and how a rights holder can raise a concern. Added that Solipsium's software and methods are the operator's, and may not be copied, scraped or used to build a competing product.
September 30, 2026: the service moved from pre-alpha to alpha; nothing else in these terms changed.
October 3, 2026: the prices that apply are the ones listed in these terms and shown at checkout, since the homepage no longer lists them. The list of what stays free leaves out passage repairs that use AudioSR, which spend a credit once charging is enabled, as the paragraph on credits says. The model credits name nara-wpe, used for room echo reduction. They also say that AP-BWE rebuilds recordings saved at 16 kHz and that AudioSR runs for Quick restore and for the Hollywood edit's optional detail rebuild.
October 17, 2026: added picture enhancement of video. The video enhancer in your browser is free and does not upload the video. Server video enhancement, when offered, has its own limits, spends credits for each started minute even on a monthly plan and returns them in full when a job fails or is cancelled. Added the rights and consent a video needs, that enhancement invents detail and is not evidence, and the open-source code and models it uses, whose own licences these terms do not limit.
October 18, 2026: named AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1 (MIT licence), which the video enhancer's Sharpen edges setting uses, among the open-source code it sends to your browser.
October 23, 2026: server video enhancement, when offered, takes at most 18,000 frames in all (ten minutes at 30 frames a second, or five at 60). The model credits name Real-ESRGAN's realesr-general-wdn-x4v3 model, which the video enhancer's Keep grain setting blends in.
