Cut it at equal lengths, at times you type or at long pauses. Save each part as an MP3 or a WAV.

Your browser splits it and saves the parts on this device.
MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WebM or AAC, up to 30 minutes or 200 MB.
Separate the times with commas, as 5:00, 12:30.5 or 750.
A pause is a stretch quieter than the recording's floor plus 12 dB, where the floor is the level of its quietest tenth. Each cut falls in the middle of a pause, so both parts keep a little of the silence.
Save all saves the parts one after another, about a second apart. Your browser may ask whether this page may download several files.
This file has more than two channels, so the parts are saved in stereo.
How it works
The recording is decoded once, at 44.1 kHz, and each part is a slice of those samples. A WAV part keeps them as 16-bit audio. An MP3 part is compressed again.
Its own decoder reads the recording on this device, and the page draws the waveform with a gold line at every cut.
By length puts a cut at each multiple of the minutes you choose. Typed times go where you type them, to a hundredth of a second. At pauses, the page measures the level every 10 ms and cuts at each pause that lasts at least as long as you set. A part shorter than a second joins the one before it.
Parts are named after the file, such as Side A part 01.mp3. MP3 parts have a constant bitrate and are made with lamejs, a JavaScript port of LAME, under the GNU LGPL.
Questions
No. Each part is its own download.
Lower the shortest pause. If noise or music fills the gap, it can sit above the floor plus 12 dB and the page will not count it as a pause. Type its time instead.
Each cut falls on the sample nearest its time, and a WAV part starts and ends right there. An MP3 part starts and ends with a few hundredths of a second of silence that the encoder adds, so save WAV for parts you will join again.
The audio joiner joins them in any order into one MP3 or WAV.
Save it, then drop it on the background noise page. Its check runs in your browser, and for speech you can hear the first 20 seconds repaired with no account.
